Have you ever really, really wanted something that you never got?
Ever lost something you valued a lot?
Have you ever looked back at any of those disappointments and realized just how lucky you were that that thing did NOT work out?
I have! His name was Joel- a tall, handsome, blue-eyed doctor.
I was crazy in love with him, so I thought. We were both in our 20’s. The connection was so amazing that we just had to be soul mates, I told myself. But, it didn’t work out.
He lived in Ohio. Me in Oklahoma. He arranged a little weekend meet up in Little Rock, AK. I was so excited to see him! He picked me up at the airport and after a little sightseeing, we headed out to dinner at a beautiful little restaurant on the river. (He had made reservations!)
Let’s face it. The world is going through difficult times. You may be even dealing with your own personal difficulty.
In today’s INSIGHT, I offer a perspective to hopefully ease inner resistance that can cause suffering. You know the saying, “What we resist, persists”!
I didn’t want to write about this topic today.
My self-talk went something like this… “You should write something more uplifting. Something to inspire people!”
My SOUL’s response was…
“What if this is exactly what is needed?”
So, here goes… We’ve all known hard times. No one gets through life without them. Heck, even the richest of the richest can’t stop hurricanes, or sometimes even their own bankruptcy.
Today’s message is really about what to do when nothing works.
Perspectives. Choices. They affect us daily.
Sometimes our perspectives make us feel as though we are on top of the world and like nothing could get us down ever again. Other days? Well, we just can’t seem to get out of bed or do what’s before us.
Your perspective can show you useful past conditioning and help you make the empowering choices. At other times, your conditioned perspectives can be maladaptive and “appear” to take away any chance of choice. But, you can still make a choice.
“What’s this about, and can I get past my reaction?”, we ask ourselves!
Have you ever asked yourself this question?
