It could have been wrecked my day.  It wasn’t a life or death sort of thing, but if I had believed it, it certainly could have robbed me of my Being-ness, my happiness and of my productivity. And, if I continued it as a habit, it could rob me of my fulfillment and purpose.

Does this ever happen to you?

You’re running behind schedule and you say to yourself, “I don’t have time to meditate right now!”.

It happened with me just the other day. When I looked at my upcoming schedule, my mind told me that I didn’t have enough time to get everything done before my trip. That thought was quickly followed by “I better skip my meditation and dive into those projects right now”.

But, what happened next set me straight and left me with my mouth hanging wide open!

Out of nowhere, I was stopped in my tracks! I call is a “Spontaneous Seeing”.

Spontaneous Seeing is when you see through the eyes of your Soul rather than the eyes of your ego.

What did I see?

Umm, well it’s a bit embarrassing, but here it is. I saw that. . .

I had spent 10-15 minutes on Facebook this morning, but I was telling myself that I didn’t have time to meditate!

Busted! My Soul caught me in a lie!

  • Do you catch yourself believing what your mind is telling you?
  • Do you ever tell yourself that you don’t have time to do the things that are most important to you?

The saying, “The truth will set you free”, is so accurate! TRUTH cuts right through our beliefs, our lies and illusions and quickly ends the story.

It ended my lie just the other day. For a few seconds, I was going to skip my mediation even though I had had time for Facebook earlier.

Now don’t get me wrong. I love Facebook and technology. Both are wonderful, but it’s up to us to use them or they will use us.

I recently heard someone on the Internet say that the masses watch television to escape from the goals they didn’t set or the careers they didn’t want. He said that they use TV as a way to make up for the drudgery of life.

I get it! That certainly used to be me. I was afraid to live MY life. Why? My memory was (or more accurately, my story was) that my Mom always strongly disapproved of things that I wanted. So, to make sure I wasn’t given that look of disapproval, I kept my mouth shut, denied my dreams and went along with the pack.

For many years I pretended that I was okay with the way things were. But when my misery of not living my life became stronger than my fear of my Mom’s disapproval, my life began to change rapidly! I stopped lying to myself and telling myself that it was ok to say small. What a price I paid just to avoid disapproval.

What about you? Are there things you tell yourself that keep you from your heart’s desires? Are there things you tell yourself that keep you from doing the very things that would take you closer to your dreams? If so, what tiny step might you take to start changing it that now?

Please post your thoughts below! I love hearing from you and reading your comments.
